Go bananas

Are you a fan of banana bread? According to experts, It shouldn't be too sweet, or too dry, or too fruity - making a good one is not as easy as it seems. After a few not-so-successful attempts, we have finally found the recipe that ticks all the boxes (yay).

We added A LOT of chopped dark chocolate (61% cocoa) and around 1/2 cup of walnuts; and slightly less sugar and flour that recommended in the recipe. Contrary to the recipe's how-to, we used an electrical hand-mixer instead of a wooden spoon, to get just the right mix and texture of the batter.

This banana bread definitely tastes better and becomes more moist a day-two after (keep it wrapped in the fridge), and doesn't have to be complemented by honey, butter or other usual suspects - it is THAT good. Enjoy !

Good Monday morning!

The only thing that helps us get out of bed on a cold Monday morning, is anticipation of that rich, smooth, delicious latte from everyone's favourite Kafferiet. Which is truly one of the best coffee-shops in Copenhagen. And remember you can also enjoy these lattes (plus fantastic desserts) at Kafferiet's big sister - Royal Cafe Copenhagen.
Have a wonderful week !

Scrumptious apple muffins

With abundance of all sorts of apples this season, it's simply impossible to resist the baking urge. There are so many excellent recipes around, and we promise to try quite a few in the next weeks, including ukrainian sharlotka, german apfelstrudel, french apple tart and italian apple cake. Today we proudly present the results of this incredibly easy recipe that we adopted from our favourite Smitten Kitchen. Our apple muffins might not look as beautiful as the ones on the original photos, but believe us they're as delicious and 'crazy moist' as promised by the author. We used only whole-wheat flour instead of adding an all-purpose kind, plus topped the ingredients with 2 tablespoons of rum. The house still smells amazing.
Enjoy your Sunday !

View from the couch

Autumn is officially here, and it's not that cozy any longer to bike under the (heavy!) rain or spend the evenings outside. One of the best things to do on a long chilly night is getting our hands on some seriously addictive TV and enjoy the best of the latest dramas from a safe and dry place - our couch. It doesn't matter whether we're in Berlin, London, Copenhagen or Kyiv, these excellent TV-series can be found on amazon and shipped practically anywhere these days.

This fall we are addicted to below three -

The Killing (cult, no less): It's called Forbrydelsen in Danish and unless you're fluent in Dansk, turning English subtitles on is a must. It is now in the 3d season, so every Sunday at 20:00 we're all glued to our screens in hot anticipation of the next episode (Danish friends, it's on DR1, and danish subtitles can be activated via teletext 398)

Homeland: managed to beat Mad Men at the latest Emmy awards in the category Best Drama Series. Say no more.

The Good Wife: an excellent court room drama with a twist. Smart, thrilling, classy.

And what is your favourite TV?

THE clutch

Whether you are in an evening gown, or wearing your favourite jeans, on a hot date or at a glamorous wedding reception, you always need that special final touch that would lift any outfit: a sleek, cool, uber-stylish clutch. We found THE ultimate clutch back in 2010 when our friend Natalka presented her first Naledi Copenhagen collection. Ever since we all are obsessed (and yes, bought a lot of clutches. They are irresistible, just check out the colours here...)

And we're not alone! HRH Princess Mary of Denmark here and here, and Sofie Gråbøl from the cult hit Forbrydelsen (The Killing) here, to name a few, have been seen carrying Naledi Copenhagen on a number of occasions.

Our personal favorites this season are the Royal Blue and Black ostrich with vintage goldtone snake chain. Which ones do you like?

You can buy these beautiful clutches online and at these stores. Be warned, there are MANY more Naledi accessories that you'll be tempted to put on your wish-list... More of which later. Have a great week!
