Danish design: Finn Juhl

If you like Danish design or at least lived in Denmark for a few years, or perhaps have some furniture-design-obsessed friends, you have probably heard of Finn Juhl, a Danish architect, interior and industrial designer, primarily known for his furniture design. Last weekend we took a (bike) trip to Ordrupsgaard, near Charlottelund, to see the original Finn Juhl's house, that was turned into a museum a few years ago, after his late wife passed away. The house itself is a jewel, very old school but in a cool way, as our friend Thomas said. The beautiful surroundings of the house combined with the art gallery at Ordrupgaard park (who knew that the new building at Ordrupgaard was designed by Zaha Hadid?), is so worth a trip to Charlottelund. Enjoy! 

Birthday cake

What's your favourite birthday cake? For years, ours was any sort of a cheese-cake. This year, we're trying something new, following the wonderful and easy-peasy recipe of a Banoffee pie by our favourite Cute Carbs blog. It takes minutes to make (plus chilling time of course), easy, quick and delicious. Buon Appetito!

Do you Shellac?

What do you think of Shellac? 

We just had our first encounter with Shellac pedicure, persuaded at a very nice spa during the latest business trip: the weather outside was pretty awful, hence no open-toe sandals, and having to wait for an hour until the toes would be dry, wasn't really an option. Well, it was surprisingly easy, took literally a few seconds to dry, and a week later keeps looking as shiny and fresh as if the pedicure was done just this morning. 

There is no damage to the nail itself (it has nothing to do with gel nails..). We are however doing the research on potential side effects, UV light and all, and it'd be great if you could share your own Do's and Dont's. Thank you!

Orange Is The New Black

New season, new TV drama. If you haven't yet heard about the Netflix exclusive Orange Is The New Black, clear up your schedule immediately and plan a night-in in front of your TV: you are up for a treat. This is not your typical girls TV, and nothing like Homeland or Mad Men. It stands out from everything we've seen; it's funny, incredibly moving, horrifying at times, and insanely addictive. The series based on a true story of Piper Kerman. Enjoy !

Summer beauty finds

Summer sale continues! We are just back in Denmark from a loooong and adventurous business trip (more of which later), and have been told by our friend Wendy that Illum's beauty products are still on sale. This Sephora bronzer pack, that Wendy swears by (easy to apply, natural tan, healthy glow), is now available at merely DKK 155! We are also going to stock up on one of our favourite products, Korres lip butter, in a variety of colours: Jasmine, Pomegranate and Quince; the feel of Greek islands in a pot!
One more month of summer to go. Yay.
